These large and spectacular larks are denizens of South Africa’s picturesque West Coast – as am I. They therefore have a special place in my heart. I pictured them here with a Euphorbia bush on the white sands of Langebaan. Also note the small white snails. These are Theba pisana – an alien species that be locally abundant on plants in this area.
This painting is available as a limited edition (set of 25) print, on high quality A3 paper. This image could also work in a series with the other four long-billed lark species, or even with the related Short-clawed Lark added. Each image is signed by the artist, and numbered. The bird’s name is penciled at the bottom left of the plate. Please contact me if you are interested.
